As one member said to me VP this site needs some kind of a clear mission statement--like the other side has (well we all know what's over there), and sistasonline would probably benefit from that. The most successful female oriented sites usually have some core goal like crafts, hair, fashion, parenting, or dating etc. I don't know what your goals are for this off site SOL are so I can't make a great suggestion now. Having some key words and resources would also have this site pop up in the searches better.
I would like to see SOL still primarily be for women of color (as there are still so few GOOD sites for black people to post and network online) and hopefully not just a bunch of reposts from the other side.

I agree with izayoi that the site needs a main subject to anchor it down and accumulate traffic and members.
I also don't have any suggestions right now but. We just can't have the site floating in the wind.
izayoi I honestly don't know what the mission statement of SOL is, but I'm thinking I see SOL as a hangout spot for the ladies that is a tad bit more raunchy that other spots on the net. I don't see why it has to be boiled down to one theme, we have created a few sub forums on this board, in time some will be more popular than others and the theme will take care of itself :dunno:
But let me give you a brief history of why I created SOL on the Main Board in the first place.
There was a time on BGOL when the board was damn near 100% men, anytime a female came to the board and wanted to join in the conversation as a women, she was hounded down by the guys, Negroes saying "show your tits", "you are a whore" etc etc etc. There were only about 5 sistas who went through the fire and were big time contributors to the board, the rest of the ladies remained lurkers.
When Fem and I created the SOL sub forum, most of the ladies came out of lurker status and joined the conversation, I'm guessing they felt like they had just as much of a right to be on BGOL as the men since they had a home base. Now BGOL is a more pleasant place since we have females on the board.
Part 2 of the SOL plan was to break the sub forum off into it's own board, that's what I did earlier this month.
In response to a need for a theme, I don't know what that could be, maybe it could be hair??? cooking???? sex????? Hell I don't know
I'm looking to find a way to draw enough ladies to the board where a small community of people will emerge.
This thing might not work, but my only goal was to have a place for the ladies to hang and talk about all subjects and be a little more raunchy than the other female websites.
We will see what happens :)

Ok if there's going to be raunch and relaxation for the ladies I'm all for it :yes: There isn't a lot of good adult (primarily black) sites out there for women in my opinion. As for BGOL being more pleasant now....urm :lol:...perhaps moister ;)
